What to Do If a Publisher Rejects Your Content

A content rejection doesn't automatically mean the order is over. What happens next depends on the reason for the rejection — and in most cases, there's a clear path forward.

Where to find the rejection reason

When a publisher rejects your content, the order status changes to Content Disapproved and the reason is noted in the order description. Open the order in your Orders tab to read it before deciding what to do next.

What usually happens

The content needs revisions
If the publisher has flagged specific issues — tone, word count, topic fit, link placement — revise your content to address them and resubmit. Once your content is rejected, the option to add content becomes available again in the order.

The content needs to be rewritten
If the rejection indicates the piece isn't salvageable with edits, you'll need to submit a new article. You can do this yourself or order a content package from MeUp if you don't want to write it again.

The publisher offers to write the content instead
Some publishers will offer to write the article themselves if they reject a submission. If this option is available and works for your campaign, you can

proceed that way.

The order is rejected entirely
In some cases, the publisher rejects the order outright — not just the content. When this happens, our team will contact you to explore whether anything can be done. If there's no viable path forward, the order is canceled and the payment is refunded as store credit to your account.

If you'd prefer the refund to go back to your original payment method rather than staying as store credit, contact support and we'll arrange it.

If the order has already been fully rejected and canceled, no

further action is possible on that order. You'd need to place a new

order — either with a different publisher or with revised content

ready from the start.
